Description Tower for short-time zero-gravity experiments.
The gondola with the experiment is first accelerated upwards using linear engines until it reaches a velocity of approximately 20 m/s. Then it travels upward only under the influence of gravity, whereby zero-gravity occur. As the interior of the tower is not evacuated further linear drives are used in order to compensate the resistance of the air and the friction of the guidance rail.
When it reaches its highest point it falls back again, whereby linear drives accelerate it hereby a bit in order to compensate the resistance of the air and the guidance system.
Then it reaches the main acceleration section whereby it is braked with the same linear engines, which accelerate it at the start.
