Description Tvind School Wind Turbine is the oldest working wind turbine capable of generating a power output of more than 1 MW. It was built by student of Tvind School under consult of Forskningscenter Risø of Danmarks Tekniske Højskole.
It was at time of completion the most powerful wind turbine in the world and until 2000 the tallest in Denmark. Its generation capacity is 2 MW, from which only before 2015 only 400 kW were fed in the general power grid and the rest was used for the central heating system of Tvind school.
Since the installation of a second inverter in 2015, it can feed 900 kW in the general power grid,
