Description In the cave of this church, the famous natural mummy of the Knight of Kahlbutz is exhibited, which is a famous tourist attraction, as it has a unique history.
In 1690 the Knight of Kahlbutz was accused for killing a shepherd. At the court Knight of Kahlbutz had sworn "It was not I, otherwise after my death my body will not decay". Knight of Kahlbutz died in 1702 and was laid to rest in a double coffin in the family tomb in Kampehl Church.
In 1794 during the renovation of the church all coffins in the church were removed. Before they were buried in the churchyard, they were opened. Hereby one discovered that all corpses were decayed except that of the Knight of Kahlbutz. Afterwards its corpse was laid in a coffin with transparent lid and transported into the cave of the church.
