Description • This chimney was built in 1972 for a facility for roasting molybdenium sulphide. In 1986 the production was stopped. On April 26th, 1988 a plastic tube in the chimney caught fire. The fire spread over to other parts of Elektrowerk and caused considerable damages, however the chimney survived this fire without major damages and was afterwards used by cell phone companies for antenna installations. However this use decreased after these companies built their own cellphone towers. In 2012 the height of the chimney was reduced to 99 metres in order to avoid the expensive renovation of its obstacle lightnings.
