Description The Baltic Power Plant is one of the world's most powerful shale-fired power plants, with a total installed electrical capacity of 765 MW and a total installed thermal capacity of 400 MW. The thermal energy is used to supply the heating systems of the city of Narva with hot water and to supply all the largest industrial consumers in the vicinity with 15 atmospheres of steam.
The Baltic Power Plant uses oil shale and natural gas as fuels. Oil shale is imported from the Estonia mine and the Narva quarry. During the year, 2.2 million tonnes of oil shale are used.
