Description
Architect: William Naugle

A wooden observation tower with three decks in a height of 38 metres, 69 metres and 91 metres built for the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in 1853.

It had no elevator and was during its existence the tallest structure in the United States. Latting Observatory, which inspired Gustave Eiffel for building Eiffel Tower, was destroyed on August 30, 1856 in a fire.
