Description
• Architect: Jacob Bläser (Baroque Tower), Cay Dose (Baroque Church), Horst Sandtmann & Friedhelm Grundmann (Post-War Reconstruction)
• It used to be the baroque main church of the formerly independent city of Altona and was built to rival the much taller baroque towers of the neighbouring city of Hamburg by standing on a hill with its slender but shorter spire
• It was almost completely destroyed in WWII and rebuilt from 1954 to 1969
