• The building was originally constructed for Reid, Murdoch & Co. as office, processing, and warehousing space for the food processing company. The three-story tower originally held a water tank for fire suppression. In 1926, one of the 6 bays of windows was removed on the west side of the building to facilitate the expansion of LaSalle Street.
• The City of Chicago purchased the building in 1955 to house a number of city offices and courts.
• The building was renovated between 1998 and 2002 by Friedman Properties transforming the building into a commercial office building with ground floor retail spaces.
