• Architect : Jean de Chelles & Pierre de Montreuil.

• This is one of Paris' most famous cathedrals, and the cathedral church of the Diocese of Paris.

• The church claims to be Paris' largest and is one of the first, large examples of Gothic architecutre.

• The apse and choir section was the earliest completed section, and was built from 1163-1182. The nave was finished in 1200.

• 1250 saw the completion of the west entrance (main entrance) and towers, and the begin of the enlargement of the transepts, which were fully completed in 1275.

• The front towers remained unfinished. The spires were not taken further to the complete status of a gothic structure.
