The start of the Innovation Quarter's new construction phase, in what was once called the Central District. The multi-building proposal could have 1.1 million square feet of office space, 650,000 square feet of apartment space, 350,000 square feet of research labs, 300,000 square feet of retail and a park along downtown's waterfront.
A centerpiece "headquarters" tower, first announced in late 2013. This building has doubled in height, as talks move forward with a potential tenant. The building will have 6,500 square feet of retail, fronting a park, and 1,389 underground parking spaces, below the tower. Building height could reach 15-25 floors, depending on the tenant. Developers have said the building will have 308,000 square feet of leasable office space at a minimum and could have more, if it reaches the full proposed height. This site offers the best visibility downtown and a site on downtown Winston-Salem's waterfront.
