Braunschweig (Brunswick) a city and urban district located in the southeast side of Lower Saxony. Lying on the banks of the Oker River at its furthest navigable point, the Harz Mountains rise just to the south.
Braunschweig is the European Economic Area's top city for R & D (Research & Development), spending more than 7.1% of its gross domestic product on R & D.
