Description
• Crest length: 695 meters
• The Grand Dixence Dam is the tallest construction in Switzerland, and was the tallest dam in the world on its completion. Now it is tallest dam in Europe.
• The dam lies at the head of the Val d'Hérens (Valley of Herens), and holds back the Lac des Dix (Ten Lake).
• This dam replaces the original Grande Dixence dam constructed between 1929 to 1935. The old damn is now submerged.
