Description
Architect: Vann Molyvann

The monument was built between 1958 and 1962 to commemorate Cambodia's 1953 independence from France. Prince Norodom Sihanouk commissioned Vann Molyvann to design the monument in a style similar to historical Khmer architecture. The monument is clad in red marble.
