290 King Street West | 87.95m| 27 fl | Proposed

This was shared on UT by user Paclo. All credits go to them:

"On October 31st, a formal consultation occurred on this address with the following description:

To develop a 27-storey, mixed-use building with 1,165.97 m2 of commercial area and 324 dwelling units with 134 vehicle parking spaces located underground and within the second-floor podium.

Google Street View of the site as of April 2023:

Note that 290 is a narrow parcel, and assembly of adjacent parcels would be needed for redevelopment:

Heritage status of adjacent parcels potentially included in the assembly:
276-278 King St W (c. 1906) is designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
280-288 King St W are not listed.
290 King St W (c. 1860) is registered (non-designated) expiring Dec 31, 2024.
294 King St W (c. 1900) is registered (non-designated) expiring Dec 31, 2024.
296 King St W (c. 1890) is registered (non-designated) expiring Dec 31, 2024.
298 King St W (c. 1910) is inventoried.

So, from Hess to almost to La Luna. La Luna property just recently sold to an investment/development firm.

Do you know which firm? I heard it was run by someone in Mississauga or Brampton?

Remember this one when it surfaced last fall, quite intriguing.

If memory serves me right, this would be one of the first multiple property sales for a build in Hamilton, which would be quite unique. This is more like a Toronto build where someone just has a vision and buys up whatever is needed based on the locale to execute the new build.

King from Bay onwards has become quite the development strip.

It has.

It's also losing whatever character it has (which has mainly been about the north side of the street, at least between Bay and Queen aside from properties like the A&W)
