The trend for homicide rates literally make no sense. I mean, a possible explanation is that the police didn't care to patrol those neighborhoods after the George Floyd debacle and therefor they killed each other at a higher rate than normal. But I can't imagine that the police are more hardcore in Chicago now than they were in 2021. Also, inflation is through the roof so you would think that murder rates would be higher as people are more stressed over the cost of everything, especially the poor obviously. It would be nice to see a non politically correct rational explanation.
Theres a whole season of the wire dedicated to murder rates in I think the 3rd season. The city didn't report all of the murders to make the mayors office look better. I wonder how much of that happens in places like Chicago.
