You know what really makes that view down Wabash special? Its not that Trump terminates the view so perfectly, its that Trump terminates the view at a 45 degree angle to the street. This is an effect rarely seen in any terminus let alone one of the highest (is it the highest?) street terminating buildings in the world. This angle really skews the perspective of the view and add a ton of drama to the scene.

The color helps too. Given its size, Trump could have been a really oppressive wall, but the responsive, blue glass creates a great sense of depth and perspective by blending in with the ambient environment and light.

Has there been any chatter at all about all of that retail at the base of Trump?

I'm amazed by how lush the landscaping looks and it's been such a short time since it was all planted.

Pictures from Summer 2008 when going back to my hometown while it was still under construction. I actually was there the day the tower became TO, which was pretty cool.

The view looking north on Wabash from around Jackson is even more stunning. For a city lover, one of the best shots anywhere. The el tracks really top off that view.
