No crane on this one yet???
This high rise will also be a beautiful building!!!
Good question. They have to be getting close to getting a crane in there as I thought I saw columns being formed down in the pit. TxDev could probably give us a better idea.
The Floodgate, being developed by local interior designer and real estate developer Keller Henderson, is set to be a 17-story, mixed-use luxury apartment and retail tower at 139 E. Commerce St. along the River Walk.
The octagon-shaped development between the Witte Building and the Esquire Tavern broke ground in mid-February. After the retention systems and crane are set, crews will begin pouring concrete. Completion is estimated for December 2021.
Local company Jordan Foster Construction is working on the project along with Austin-based Rhode Partners Architects.
Nice... sure is taking a while for the crane to go up.
The Canopy spent a very long time as a big hole in the ground because they had to drill some very deep foundation holes. I expect the Floodgate is the same way.

So, one has to remember they are digging a hole right next to the San Antonio River and the historical San Antonio Riverwalk. I am sure it is more work than just digging a hole in any street. Food for thought....
We will be patient....
Every time I see that someone has posted a reply on this thread, I get a little excited because I know there's a .038% chance someone has posted a photo for me to look at from 2,000 miles away. (Hint.)

I think the black waterproofing zigzag on the Esquire wall shows the elevation of the future walkway access down to the river, between the buildings, which I think is kind of interesting.

Reason: Info on waterproofing
I see rebar sticking up out of the ground, which is a pretty good indication that this is under construction now since they would be for the columns.
I'm actually really excited for this lil gem. I love the shape and simplicity....I wonder where it'll pop up at in skyline pics...especially with the lighting

I would have preferred the original design, but I'm pretty excited about it too.
This northwest ish corner of downtown is going to have some really nice density here in the next couple years! I'm all for the design. Its varying facade depths are architecturally pleasing and will add nicely to the fabric of the street and river levels.

I could see that. I actually kinda think this feels more like a tower than the original design. I also like this octagonal trend with new buildings in SA. Very unique

Yeah, it's 17 floors vs. 10, so it is more of a tower. I'm good with this design. But the first one was special.
