It's no rumor that LBJ's "black sheep" brother, Sam Houston Johnson, was a resident of the old Alamo Hotel. Ol' Sam was a heavy drinker and somewhat of an embarrassment to the family - kinda like Billy Carter. IIRC, the AAS did print an interview with him at some point.

I also recall there being a protest about the old hotel's demolition, but was unaware of the details except that the place was something of a dump in the 1960s.
