Yeah, but it's not the worst thing in the world With the CMHR, all that's needed is an upgraded roof structure and it'll fit it quite nicely.

Looks like they're making fairly good progress, especially for the winter months.
I agree re: the stage, but once the museum nears completion it should become much less noticeable, also if anything of substance is built on the empty parking lot.

Great shots! Thanks 1ajs.

Love the panorama. This project is so wide and sprawling! Great progress so far.

All the sunshine is making me miss summer tho.

Thanks for posting the captures. Looking good. I'm just hoping that north wall turns out ok, it has potential to be quite unappealing.

Winnipeg design standards, it will be all stucco.

^^^ I believe the wall will be huge slabs of stone - possible Tyndall but i am not quite sure. (if i remember it is some other stone but to reduce cost it might just be Tyndall)

Hah. Yea, stucco just bare concrete would be perfect.

The renderings definately show large squares of limestone, tyndall or something. Doesn't look bad in the dreamy renderings. The scale model seems to have smaller pieces of stone. Either way, it's definately the weaker angle of the building. There's a lot of empty space there.

the design brief always called for tyndall....hopefully thats what it still is....that side is more refined than it was in the design drawings...it actually has a bit of a back door now.....i like it....it could be more dramatic than the other side....it will be a 150' high mountain of stone....very cool.

I'm digging those lights leading up to the entrance to the museum, anyone know if the tower will have a beam of light shooting into the sky.

i checked out the model here in vancouver and spoke to one of the museum execs - as suspected before (and can be seen in the model) the plan now calls for no glass roof because of the risk from leaks, etc.

that's a seriously impressive model. glad to see an outdoor cafe on the east side of the museum. (a rooftop cafe/restaurant would be wicked too on one of those slabs of rock)
