There's certainly no halo over the Utah State Capitol.

And that's really saying something, since I'm a Republican.

As long as the stadium is still being built i'm happy. Now if RSL can just win a game that would be nice. LOL

I didn't realize the new soccer stadium was rising so quickly. Here's an update from the Deseret News:

Pretty exciting stuff. Here's to a long and properous future for Utah soccer. This stadium when completed will be the beginning of a strong 'Real' history.

... ...And for the record, all 20,000 seats in the $110 million project will be tip-up seating. "Dave Checketts wanted it first class all the way," said Steele...

I just couldn't resist the irony in this:

Its easy to order "first class all the way" when someone else is paying. I'd be a little more impressed with his gold standards for the stadium's construction if he were footing the bill himself.

Anyway... ...on with construction. I actually saw steel rising from the freeway last week. I wonder how visible this will be from I-15 when its completed.

Wow, I just finished looking at the stadium website: http://rslstadium.com/index.html

I can't believe how much work has been done. I always look at it when I'm driving down I-15, but didn't realize how much it already looks like a stadium.

And now, perhaps Corroon Soccer Stadium?

http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_7042210

Late Gov. Calvin L. Rampton got his name on the Salt Palace. So how about Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon's name on Real Salt Lake's soccer stadium?

That was the tongue-in-cheek suggestion of Republican County Councilman Michael Jensen when debating whether Rampton - Utah's chief cheerleader for tourism - deserved name recognition on the Salt Palace Convention Center...

WTF? Corroon Stadium? He doesn't deserve his name on the stadium since he killed the last deal and we almost lost the team. Peter Corroon is a jerk who doesn't surport Soccer and RSL. So why are we talking about putting his name on something he doesn't give a rat's add about.

That's a Real slap in the face for those who give a damn and fought hard to keep the stadium deal alive and to keep the team here in Utah.

Projects, the point was that it was a very sarcastic suggestion by a county councilman. They were basically ribbing Corroon.

RSL Stadium Photo update October 3, 2007

Looks like crews have began adding the roof to the Westside of the Stadium. Now we can really see the Stadium from the freeway.

Real stadium cost is getting real big

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1...224157,00.html

Real is building a 22-acre soccer stadium at 9400 S. State in sandy that will cost more than $110 million to construct Real's private financing, through New York-based iStar financial, will pay for $65 million of it.

Six additional acres Real owns, for a mixed-use development to couple with the project, will also receive assistance from Sandy through RDA dollars.

Any chance of another photo update? It's been a month, maybe something's changed...

Eh, what do I care? I'm still against the stadium in Sandy!

I guess we should defer to Projects for an update. He's our roveing pic-man, for that area especially, LOL. Seems like every time I drive by between 106th and 90th, there's new buildings going up. That area is exploding!!

I do like the idea of a mix-use development going around the Stadium. I really have high hopes that this hotel they want to build could be a tall building. ( Something higher then 5-stories. )
