$15 would be my limit, I think, which would be a good trade off for the convenience of skipping all of the transit transfers and whatnot. Aquabus/FCF charge, like, $4 one way/$7 roundtrip between two docks on the shortest routes, so I get that it'd likely be a substantial jump given the time and distance. If that's not financially feasible for anything less than that, then I guess that's on me.

I'm actually surprised that the Aquabus/FCF fares are that cheap, I always thought that they were expensive (though still a nice novelty, if you're using them a handful of times a year), but I feel like their fares haven't gone up a lot in the last while. When I lived in the West End I really enjoyed taking them from Hornby/the Aquatic Centre to Granville Island for the day - so much faster than walking or taking awkward combinations of busses.

This is much better and subtler, the Sen̓áḵw renders didn't really capture it well.
Who agreed to that paint? lmao
That is hideous!

Personally I think these aqua busses are a better idea than streetcars.

being a tourist in my own city, walking from Main street to granville island and then taking the ferry back is a great afternoon. Or drinking at tap and barrel and the taking the ferry to the whitecaps game is amazing

Wholeheartedly agree.

One time in 2022 I met a friend at Granville Island for drinks but had another social engagement in Olympic Village that evening and had to rush out. Being able to take the ferries in situations like that is incredibly convenient.

Some won't like anything about this development because of "who's" building it. I think it's gonna look amazing and start a trend toward other curtain wall colours.

Yeah definitely unique in the city so far, love it for that alone.

The Aquabuses are fantastic. To avoid parking in Granville Island I park over in Yaletown by the marina and take the aquabus over instead. My kid loves it and it's way more convenient than dealing with Granville Island parking. Really nice pilots as well - lot of retired Navy/Coast Guard folks I think.

Burrard Civic Marina (docks with restricted access) and the Coast Guard Station take up
all of the waterfront space along Senakw (i.e. south side of the Creek under the Burrard Bridge).

There's the Vanier Boat ramp, but it is too busy to accommodate a regularly scheduled ferry service,
and it took the City ages to fix it after the storms a few years ago (so no money to expand it with ramps
to accommodate wheelchairs, as the other ferry docks have been).

The Aquabus dock could easily be a little extension on any of those. That's the way some other ones operate.

The end of Fisherman's Wharf is literally spitting distance from the Granville Island stop. Might as well build a footbridge.

But the Burrard Marina is owned by the city so you assume they might be the more flexible option. The ferry operators would be the best judge if the stop would make any sense. There's a reason why only one of the two even bother going to the Maritime Museum.

There was actually a proposal for a pedway across False Creek back during the Vision days. IIRC it would've blocked it off to anything taller than a water taxi, so no-go.

Marinaside is similar wrt sharing a dock, but the moorage spots are isolated from public access with locked gates over there.
That may be possible on Burrard Civic Marina Float M, but not the one west of the bridge with the fuel station.

I believe we can have nice things. Aren't they already planning on a potential footbridge connecting the east side of Granville Island to South False Creek?

No plans that was just a CHMC 2040 plan wishlist item.

Remember, the independent boat owners, whale watchers and fishermen get a vote as well. They're working on pedestrian off-ramps for Burrard - that'll have to do.

I noticed they have one of those curved pieces/balcony "thing" connected to their exterior mockup on the east side of the bridge.

Yeah one of those fins but it looked like the face of it was silver with orange on the sides.
