Any news on this one? I would think it about 12-15 stories by now. Its such a thin building I would expected to grow like a weed !

Looks even more slender in that photo. Imagine a tower that tall being squeezed into that dense space.

It will sprout up like a beanstalk. There are a few new towers in the area in the same height range that will sprout up.

Didn't get a picture, but, it looks like on the lower floors they are starting to install the facade, looks like brick! not as red as the rendering either. I say easily between 18 and 20 stories now!

Thanks for the shots Jack, this building should sprout up quick. Its already making good progress. Sorry if this is a little off topic, but in that bonus shot, the NY Times looks good and really does a good job of extending the skyline westward. In a few years, buildings like skyhouse will accompany NY Times.

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but in that bonus shot, the NY Times looks good and really does a good job of extending the skyline westward.

To be honest, the top of NY Times is the only good part of the building. So I'm lucky that the other building is blocking the lower 3/4.

I don't mind 325. The blue is a nice addition and it's roofline matches the background. I'm actually upset about Skyhouse. It will be an average building, and while it won't block my view of ESB it will take away from its dominance of the skyline from my POV. :(

Nimbies are sometimes right indeed, but often they are simply misguided in their missions. For instance, a person may be genuinely trying to help his neighborhood by knocking off some height off a tall proposed building, without realizing that the developer may make a grandstanding out of agreeing to cut down some height yet discretely change the design in favor of a broader structure that takes up more space and blocks more views on the street level. At other times, nimbies are just conceited assholes such as those in manhattan Plaza and the Corinthian complaining about Con Edison site proposals of towers 1.5 times as tall as theirs, while their own towers of residence, upon their initial proposal, were up to 10 times taller than the surrounding buildings.

Workers at a Flatiron District office building have become unwilling movers and shakers.

Employees at 102 Madison Ave. are all shook up over the construction next door of a 55-story luxury apartment tower that they say is making their smaller, cement building sway.

"It absolutely never moved before," said George Macdonald, facilities manager of Communications Plus, on the seventh floor of the 12-story, nearly 90-year-old edifice.

Various companies' workers said the swaying was closer to trembling last week - causing doors to open, chairs to slide, pictures to fall off walls, and some workers to reach for motion-sickness pills.

The Clarett Group, a real-estate firm, is building the 139-unit Sky House on 29th Street - about a foot from 102 Madison.

Communications Plus' Robert O'Leary said a December construction accident left a "huge amount" of concrete between the two buildings, "basically fusing them together."

Now, "when their building shakes, so does ours," he said. "[But] a skyscraper is meant to shake; our building is not."

They just need to cut through the concret that is causing the vibrations to transmit from SkyHouse to the other building. Once the solid connection is broken all should be well, although it must be an awlful lot of material struct between both buildings to cause the smaller one to sway!

The facade looks great. Real brick, nice glass slightly inset to create a vertical banding effect, and the banding on the blank wall is tasteful and subtle, but helps break up an otherwise dead space.

Definetely, and even in the flatiron district it takes 10-12 floors to rise above the other buildings on almost any block.

From my understanding, TWT has the same walls except it's internal.

I am presuming that they decided to move the walls to the periphery of this building in order to maximize space inside whereas TWT placed the importance of views higher.

Just two different approaches but with the same purpose.

Yep, nice pic indeed. The tower will look nice and slender from that angle when finished. Classic New York skyscraper (late 20th century standard) - an indiscriminate yet tall and classy tower that would've seriously changed the skyline were it in pretty much any other city.
