Flores is a municipality in the northeastern part of El Petén Department, and contains the ancient Mayan city of Tikal, the world's first UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Flores is also the capital of El Petén Department, and the actual settlement is located on a small island on Lake Peten Itza.
