Ugliest Building In The World

Since the old thread is dead I thought I would start a new one. Please post the biggest eyesores in your city or country. I'll start with the worst building in Toronto, Bloor Dundas Square.

BlogTO

And the Grand Harbour Condo.

Too subjective.

There are people in my city who didn't want to tear down a burnt out husk of a former grain silo because they thought it gave the city some sort of cyber/steampunk panache.

The buildings you highlight are fine. I mean, they're ugly but no uglier than any of a million other buildings. People today are raving about the latest iteration of glass boxes and yet, that's all that they are. They don't even necessarily have pretty glass...they're just taller glass boxes and look like little more than a direct update of sixties Brutalism. Ugly buildings are exactly like ugly people: What you find ugly may well not be what I find ugly and vise versa.

It is subjective yes, but this thread is for posting things you find ugly in your city or something you find ugly you saw on a trip. If you disagree with a building posted as ugly please debate, I would love to hear your points .

I absolutely despise the Symphony House in Philadelphia. It definitely has a spot in the Ugly Buildings Hall Of Shame as worst building in Philadelphia for me.

I thought the developers of West Edmonton mall took it over after it sat abandoned for years. I have no idea how it looks today.

Yeah someone took it over. It’s currently called “American Dream” or something along those lines.

The "Green Mansion" of Green Man Brewing in downtown Asheville:

Source.

I detest this building, primarily because it looks like the builders accidentally used drawings made by the architect's five-year-old son rather than those the architect himself drew up. No harmony of materials, no harmony of space or massing, random-ass window placement, shitty fake cornice, and that thing on the side that looks like an ambulance bay... which is only appropriate though, because they tore down an historic African-American hospital to build this eyesore. Plus, let's not forget that luscious moat of parking. This building is shit, and considering that this is a city which daily endures the presence of the US Cellular Center, not to mention a glut of ugly hotels cheaply constructed in the acclaimed Charlotte Boring style of architecture, that's saying a lot.

Hey, all. Just a reminder when posting photos that are not your own to properly site them. Include a link to page of where these photos originate at least.

^I'd say that's more goofy than ugly. But then that whole period of put parasols or hats or whatever on buildings was just a terrible terrible terrible period.
