Er that might have been the wind chill but it was really freaking cold.

Some pics from the all-seeing SSP army.

I remember walking by the pour on Lake at some point I think on the way to work. Frigid temps, 3 am pour with stadium lighting on the river, hundreds of tons of concrete for one of the first new office towers since the housing bust. It was very bad a**.

^As noted, the curing of concrete is exothermic, so it always steams in very cold weather.

I always thought it was interesting that the warmth of wet concrete itself causes the rebar inside to expand, so as the concrete cures, the rebar contracts so its protruding ribs put the surrounding concrete into slight tension.

I looked it up and 150 Riverside was poured on February 14th-15th 2015, and it was only 3-4 below zero not 20 below like I said. They did it in the middle of the night, the coldest part of the day Chicago style. Tough city!!

Thank you Bvictor1 and Harryc and all the other fine photographers for all the great photos of 150 Riverside constuction and everything in between now and then!

You say "only" 3-4 below zero like it was just scarf and a hat weather. Down here in Charlotte schools would've been closed for a week and the grocery store shelves would've been cleared out the day before.

According to yimby, this skyscraper has received another (dissapointing) height chop down to 788 ft. typical.

That YIMBY article references "a recent press release", but I can't find a link to the source.

Does anyone know the press release they're referencing and where to find it?

^ thanks.

with that 788' figure coming from Mchugh, perhaps they're referencing where the concrete structure of the tower will top out at? the screenwall above could certainly rise an additional 17 feet.

we need CD's for this one because that 788' figure popped up a little while back in the CTBUH database, and then was switched back to 805' after a month or so.

Some hot 'full permit issued' action on 1000M via ChicagoYimby.

Amazing to finally see this thing go vertical and with full permits. I really thought this project wasn't going to happen. It's a shame Jahn won't get to see it.
