Yeah, some of the best angles of the SF skyline are like that, from the south looking north. SF's skyline runs mostly east-west, so it's wider when viewed from the north or south, and smaller looking when viewed from the east or west. But you have to be in a relatively unknown (to tourists) part of SF, driving north to SF on the freeway, on a boat, or across the bay with a giant telephoto lens to see it...which excludes a lot of visitors I guess. I'd say the most famous views visitors get of the SF skyline are from Twin Peaks, the golden gate bridge, Alcatraz, and treasure island, which have a more compressed and/or obscured view of the skyline.
