The only thing that stands YSL apart from a 100 other condo developments is its height. That may be enough for many on this forum but, it's not enough for everyone. The development treats heritage in the form of existing structures and of Yonge's legacy with a sledgehammer which is not good enough for our main commercial drag that splits the city in two halves. Massey is far more intrinsic. 5 St Joseph and even One Yorkville do more to maintain the character of a cobbled commercial street than facades slapped onto a bland podium with divisible ground level retail. The other development sites have advantages this one doesn't but, there was still opportunity to do something creative and different than the lowest form of heritage preservation and the ubiquitous tower on a big block podium.
Personally, I would have prefer Yonge to maintain it's identity than to morph into a mixed residential street. Bay is that already.
