Notwithstanding the rumors circulating, the "grass lot" at the NEc of 18th and JFK will not be the site of a high-rise tower any time soon. It was looked at by LPT and Comcast in 2012 for a possible 7 to 17 story building, which would have been designed by Robert A.M. Stern, however due to an increase in Comcast's space needs and the relative cost of developing the small site, it was ultimately decided to develop way is now the CITC at 1800 Arch. Because of the relative cost of developing the 18th and JFK pad site, future Comcast growth will likely occur elsewhere.

Makes sense! And I would rather other locations be developed first, since this lot is not really an eye sore. The parking lots at 19th and Arch and the 1900 block of Arch would be nice to have developed. I know Liberty was looking into an office tower at the Northwest corner of 19th and Arch and I was told this is still on the tables. Is this the case? I work in residential and not commercial so my info on the commercial side is limited at best to rumors and information passed down.

Its via webcam, so I'm not quite sure, its a tiny bit away where the machine would usually be drilling the I beams in for the retention wall.

Well it looks like via webcam that it wasn't footer related, but the south west end of the lot is a huge mystery and the deepest part so far and the webcam cuts off down there, so maybe they could be doing that? Where is Londonee when we need him haha.

There's quite a bit of glare in the afternoon sun, so the photos are rubbish. Will wait a bit and re-take so you call can get a good forensic look. I will tell you there are large metal tubular casings now on site.

Which corner would they tie into Suburban Station, etc.? Would they dig that out deeper initially or would that be after some initial permanent work was done?

They also have to tie into heavy duty utilities so it will be interesting to see where they did for all of that.

The corner that would make most sense to tie into Suburban would be Southeast which is still basically at street level.
