Lincoln Park is a neighborhood just south of downtown Newark, New Jersey. The buildings fronting the park make up one of the more intact historic districts in the city. Moving away from the park, it gets a bit scruffier.
At MLK Blvd, we're on the border of the Belmont-Springfield neighborhood, the heart of Newark's Central Ward. Past this street are blocks and blocks of vinyl-sided townhomes that replaced the public housing towers, which replaced the original neighborhood.
This street offers some of the only clues as to what the area used to look like.
Evidence of past wealth here and there.

I've always had a fondess for Brick city especially since I used to visit my uncle who used to own a supermarket, a pizza joint & a liquor store on Broad street. Crime was very high back in the late 80s and he wound up selling all of his businesses after his brother was shot during a robbery at the supermarket which he survived. Anyways cool pics.

That was dope. I was in Newark for a few hours in the Downtown and Lower Clinton Hill area when I was in the NYC area a few months ago, it feels like a big place that was considerably bigger at one point.
Reminds me of the time I spent in New Rochelle. Admittedly, this looks like it's seen a bit more, but you've captured a bit of that New York grit that you just won't find anywhere else. Good set.
