Niagara Falls: Natural beauty and tourist nonsense through Glowrock's Lens

Well, I wasn't really planning on posting photos from my Niagara Falls trip last month, but several people have asked me to do so, and thus here they are! Only a few show the pretty impressive hotel skyline of the city, but hopefully they still give you a taste of Niagara Falls itself!

I remember my two stays in Niagara Falls. I enjoyed a lot there. I remember it perfectly. Horseshoe fall is spectacular. My memories there are very nice.

Your first picture from the hotel is impressive. Fantastic views!

thanks! nice pictures. It's been ages (decades!--pre-casino days) since I've been to Niagara Falls (the closest I've been recently is when I take the train to Toronto and it goes over the Niagara River gorge, thinking it's going to fall in--can see the steam from falls in the distance). I remember when the Skylon tower opened.

Very nice shots. I don't know when I'm going to make my way back there. I was supposed to go there last September with my wife, but the remndants of bastard storm that was Lee caused us to change plans. The Delaware and Maryland shores were nice, but dammit I really wanted to see Niagara Falls again...

Great shots! I always remembered the Canadian side as being quite attractive and tastful with beautiful gardens...I thought most of the schlock was on the NY side.
The American Falls were 'shut off' 43 years ago in part to remove some of the huge boulders at the base of the falls. Your pictures clearly show that that part of the project was not a success.

^ Some Schlock on the American side for sure, but the cheese drips on the Cdn. side the most. That's where most of the campy museums and souvenier shops are...I still say that they should just level everything, and start over and go full on Vegas.

Yep, the vast majority of the schlock is definitely on Clifton Hill, no doubt about it. Ripley's, massive ugly neon signs, dinosaurs roaming a miniature golf course, etc... etc... But there's something kind of cool to all the tourist cheese as well! One thing that IS needed is perhaps some sort of moving walkway up from the Falls to the newer casino. I know it sounds lazy, but that hill is pretty freaking steep and I can imagine it not being much fun for those who have some mobility problems...

Clifton Hill looks a lot like Reno. A poor man's vegas (with exception of the fallsview casino which is beautifully designed)

Loved the tour. The skyline shot is especially stunning.

There's an incline railway up that hill, so don't expect anything free for a lone time.

I saw what looked like an old, out of commission incline over by the Maid of the Mist boarding area, but it looked like it hadn't been used in ages. Maybe it was just the off-season?

I haven't visited the Falls in 30 years, quite a bit has changed since then. I wish the US side was more vibrant, looks like Canada beat us to the punch. Fun tour Aaron, thanks.
