A gorgeous day in Heidelberg, Germany (127 photos)

A few weeks ago I traveled to Germany for work. I was able to head out a day early to tour Heidelberg on my own before taking the train down to Stuttgart for work. I was incredibly lucky with the weather… nothing but sunshine and above normal temperatures for my entire stay in Germany. Below are my photos from Heidelberg. I arrived just after sunrise on Sunday morning, so you’ll see a progression from quite sleepy streets to a town center filled with pedestrians. The grass was green, the flowers were blooming, the trees were sprouting their leaves, and the sun was shining. It’s a fantastic college town and I couldn’t be happier I selected this city to visit for my one free day from work!

Heading to the Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof to catch an IC train to Stuttgart:

My photos from Stuttgart (and nearby Sindelfingen) can be found here.

beautiful city but what was with the sudden upswing in street activity? for a minute there the city looked to be evacuated in those first few photos. time of day perhaps?

I'd mentioned at the beginning of the post that the photos begin early on a Sunday morning and that the pedestrian activity picked up as the photos progressed. It was kind of nice to have the quiet streets as I first arrived and became acclimated to where things were in Heidelberg and then have everything come to life once I was more familiar with my surroundings.
