It's subjective, of course, but Gehry is one of the most lauded architects in human history.

If you think his countless works are all crap, you have very odd aesthetic tastes.

You might know that there are two projects in the pipeline, both next to the Cira complex; and most impressive in scale: Schuykill Yards and 30th Street Station.

While taken in isolation, these combined projects prolly won't have the same scale as HY now (mind you, Phase II is yet to come), it's important to remember that when you take Philadelphias current skyline into consideration, the impact of the previously mentioned two projects will be greater than HY in both phases will be here.

I hope that makes sense.
Without a doubt! I was referencing the two projects when I said looking forward to Philly having its own version soon.

I think the developers kinda chickened out by putting some of the cantilever over the last setback ... so the overall feeling of the height of the observation deck glass floor won't be quite as impactful as it could have been if it was over a facade of the building that went directly down to the Street.

Idk if it would look right anywhere else though. I always got the vibe that that cornerof the building was meant to be seen as the “front” so to speak, based on. The orientation of the setbacks and the angle of the big triangle things (chevrons?) at the top.

Designwise, I think it was the best option, and is a nice counter the the "bow" below. It'll be visible from the street, meaning the street will also be visible. I can't wait to get up there.

Speaking of decks, from this one, you will be surrounded in a sea of skyscrapers, from 30 Hudson to One Vanderbilt (where a crane now stands), and the new Chase tower,
as well as the towers to the north (Central Park, Steinway, etc.)
