a great thread there, flar. i loved all the artsier photos thrown in there of different architectural angles and depth of field type shots. i also liked the people shots, which i do not really see from you and you're quite good at.

This disgusts me. Canada ought to band those capes...I can't believe that exists there!

Are you against people with mohawks and spiked hair? Are you against people that wear green pants or have noserings? What does it matter to you what some else is wearing? Canada is a free country.

Besides, Ottawa is the capital and there are many people from other nations here for various reasons. This person could have diplomatic immunity for all we know.

And I can't believe someone would make such an ignorant comment. I think it's a great picture for the sentiment it captures in her eyes.

The thread as a whole is amazing Flar, as always!

The eternal flame shot looks like a watercolor painting - awesome.

I don't know how you got that moon shot so crisp... everytime I try to take a pic of the moon it's a dud.

excellent as always!

Yeah I agree, to me it is a positive thing seeing that picture. It shows how Canada is so open to different cultures and accepts them and their beliefs even if we don't fully agree with them. It shows our diverse cultural mosaic (which is more prominent in some places than others, I'll admit...like Ottawa is more diverse than Edmonton).

I disagree. This is their culture. In a free country like Canada, a young woman could chose not to adhere to it more easily than if she were in a place like Yemen. If that's her belief, we should respect it.

Anyway, this is a nice city.

Great shots as always Flar. I like how you have diversity of photos, showing many different aspects of cities and in different ways.

Sad the display of hostility to the simple sight of a woman wearing a burqa, but what can you expect these days.

It is not just their culture, it is part of Canada's culture now as well, isn't it? The freedom to be who one is without persecution is part of Canadian identity.

Thanks!

giallo: new camera (D90) and lenses (16-85 & 35 f/1.8)
harls: It's cropped really tight. I wouldn't have been able to get that shot of the moon with my old camera.
