Nice pictures. Almonte looks like a nice town to explore. Do you happen to know what kind of milling went on there?

I've seen both the beginning and the end of Mississippi, it starts in Minnesota and ends in Louisiana. This is a different Mississipi. It's a small tributary of the Ottawa River.

I don't know exactly what type of milling went on in this town, "textiles" as far as I can gather. The mills are all closed now, the largest one has been converted to condos.

If you're in the area, Carleton Place is Almonte's larger, grittier sibling not even 10 minutes south. I'll be hitting Carleton Place for a tour sooner or later.
