Officialy Lille is only populated by 226,014 inhabitants but its urban and metropolitan area are over 1 million.
The city is next to the Belgian border and siginifiant part of the Lille urban area are in Belgium.
The city reputation was bad, poor, industrial, unemployement, gritty, bad weathier... the city really changed itself to an attractive metropolis.
