I left you last with a shot exiting east out of Ellensburg Washington:
Saw some sights as I drove down the road...
The drive turned into some (literally) wandering around in the desert...
...I arrived in the night to former Yakima Nation land, now the city of Yakima Washington.
Gotta be at work in a couple of hours. Time to hit the road.
Last look. Naches, WA - suburb of Yakima/Mt. Adams in the background
Hope you enjoyed the trip. If you want, you can see more scenes from the road in my "Road-trip Washington" thread under the General Photography section.
Fascinating area. In terms of rainfall, focus on agriculture, and 39.9% hispanic population (Yakima County, ACS 05-07), the area could easily be along the Mexican border somewhere.
Had another chance to visit Yakima WA this past summer. Instead of creating a new thread, I thought I'd add to this one. This was a part of a big day-trip from Seattle to Mt. Rainier. My friend from Asia had never been in Washington state east of the Cascades during daylight so I made us go. These will almost all be drive-through shots. Still, hope you enjoy the visit.
cool. i had about 5 days to drive around washington state before heading into seattle last summer but i spent the time on the olympic peninsula and central cascades. i had a harder time getting to see (and also spend quality time in) all of the biomes of washington state in a short period of time as compared to oregon (just made a big hoop down out of portland that time). i dearly wish that i had been able to hit the eastern part of the state. as in oregon, i imagine driving east almost feels like (as a midwesterner) one is driving west in the more arid areas.
My original visit which started this thread didn't have much on the neighborhood front. I wanted to be sure and get neighborhoods this time. Some downtown shots are at the beginning and ending of this run. This is pretty much in chronological order as it happened.
Glad this one came back to life, I missed it the first time around. Though I lived in Washington for a couple of years, I never made it to Yakima. Plenty of good looking old buildings there.
What's the story about this area:
Thanks for the tour(s).

That was an "old west" style tourist attraction (Yesterday Land?). I think it has been fazed out or I just looking in the wrong spot for it this last time.
