Carson City/Reno, NV

My Memorial Day travels, part two...

A bit of Reno in the morning

Carson City, NV (pop 52,457)

Nevada State Capital Building

Perhaps it's time for a policy renewal?

Nice pictures of both places.

I like seeing those pictures of the small-time casinos in Carson City. It's a little bit of the "old Nevada". I'm surprised that you didn't get any pictures of the casinos in Reno, unless they are in the background.

^The hotel part of the Silver Legacy is in a couple of his shots.

Great stuff, stepper. Interesting contrast between the two cities. Reno has changed a lot in just the few years since I've been over there. I see several new towers. Carson City doesn't look very different, and it's been at least 10 years since I've been there. I think I spied the Ormsby House in the background of one of your photos. While I like the dynamism of Reno, I'm glad not everything changes in a place like Carson City.

My time in Reno was just a stop over on the way to have lunch with a friend who lives in Fernley, NV, so, I didn't have much time. Besides, I've taken pictures of the casino part of downtown Reno before. I've posted a few other threads before too: Reno, Reno in snow, and Sparks.

Carson City was very nice and reminded me of some smaller, older cities in California. I really liked how many trees there were in downtown. You wouldn't even know you were in the desert.

Great job, Stepper!! I don't think I've ever seen Carson City on SSP before. Thanks for sharing.
