NYC: Dallascaper does Manhattan

I traveled to NYC for a three-day weekend of photography. Friday the weather sucked, so I spent most of the day at the MET, which is not exactly a dump. Saturday and Sunday the weather was spectacular – I took a helicopter tour, wandered Manhattan, got lost on the subway and generally had a great time.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Interesting photos. You seem to have a keen eye for good shots. Great tour of NY, very much enjoyed the tour you put together.

The helicopter flight cost $270 for 25 minutes. The people who sat on the left side of the craft got a fantastic view of lower Manhattan, the SoL, Mid-town and Yankee's Stadium. I sat on the right side of the craft, which treated me with a great view of New Jersey and Brooklyn. Also, the haze was a problem, and the windows of the craft are designed for sightseeing, not photography. Oh well.

However, I did get about 5 minutes of prime viewing, which included the Empire State, Chrysler and Central Park. The best view, by far, was from the top of Rockefeller Center.

Here are a few more photos from the helicopter trip.

I'm glad I checked out this thread, very nice tour. I like the one of the subway station, and the peeling paint. You don't see if as often now since they have done some upgrades. But its one of the things (decayed) I remember in many of the stations the first time I visit New York back in the late 80's.
