Chambery, France

Chambery is the capital and the main city of Savoie departement in the French Alps, this little city has 60,000 inhabitants.

Thanks for these pics , I have never visited this city, according to Google maps, it's only 1h42 drive from St Etienne and I didn't even know how it looks like!
Seems to be a nice city, with old districts and small streets.
Is it difficult to reach by car the hyper centre, as we call it in french? because Chambery seems to have a lot of pedestrian roads, I hate that , Ok for old districts, but if you can't drive downtown, people who live in the suburds don't come anymore. Here, in St Etienne, we're facing this problem, our former mayor wanted so much to decrease the traffic, that there's now a lot of one way streets, priority has been given to pedestrians, it's Ok for me as I lived in the hyper center, I can walk, but it became a nightmare to drive from A to B! many people I know just find elsewhere what they need, which isn't a good thing for business.

Nice photos. Such a vibrant city for its population of 60,000.

Now it makes sense. I was going to say that it looks a lot bigger than a city of 60,000.

Very nice series.

Oh, oh, oh!!! This city goes straight to the top of the list of French cities I care to visit some day. My latter stages of foreign travel excludes the bigger cities and am now focusing on the cities under 250,000. This would be picture perfect, and with a mountainous backdrop!

^ Man, if you can make it to the Alps (whether French, Swiss or Italian), it's a smart pick.
