I'm bouncing to central paris in a couple months and I'll be staying there for 1-2 weeks. Any suggestion as to what I should check out? Keep in mind I'm not at all interested in these touristy places, damn it I want ti walk the streets of paris and see it as any average parisian would see it! Incidentally, are there any neighbourhoods I should avoid?

Belle photos en passant

Bastille, Chatelet les Halles, Saint Lazare, Montparnasse have tourists but these place are not touristy, the large majority of the crowd is parisian.
Barbes, Bellevillle, Faubourg Saint Denis, Porte de Choisy.
Take the subway and go in innert suburrbs : La Defense, Boulogne Billancourt, Saint Denis, Vincennes.

Districts to be avoid, you think of touristy place or dangerous places ? Per exemple many guide say to avoiding Barbes or Chatelet les Halles the sartuday but don't do that (for les Halles at least, it is the best place to see the parisian life).
For touristy places avoid Eiffel tower, Trocadero, Ile de la Cite, Saint Germain des Pres, Invalide, Rue de la Huchette.

Boulevard Saint Michel or Avenue des Champs Elysees are good even if there is many tourists, these places are always that's parisian see.

Nice thread.
I was expecting to see the Rue de la Lappe and, apparently, it was part of walk.

St Germain des Près is touristy but it's also very parisian. I would advice not to miss that place and the area around it (Rue de Rennes, rue de Sèvre, rue des Saint-Pères, st Sulpice...).
