Being French myself, I would be curious to know what you consider "French". I am sure you're an expert about "Frenchness".
I wonder if you actually realize how much bigoted and stupid you sound with this kind of comment.

Ignore him, most of us are aware that France is a multi-ethnic country like the USA, and that you can't identify whether someone is "French" based on outward appearance.

Nice pictures! This is a side of Paris many of us haven't seen.

^I see high rises that stop abruptly after the "périph". And I keep thinking : why ? (and also : why are they so bland ?)

These high-rises are the Paris main china-town (Porte d'Italie), high-rises residencial buildings are quite rare in southern inner suburbs but are very frequent in southern inner Paris. These high-rises are not public housings but normal appartements for middle and upper middle class.

Grumpy : It is a complex with library, commercial center, offices and residencial building.

Not at all, these were initially built as upper middle class housings, but this project was not successfull. Chinese and east asian bought these appartements at little price.
Nowady this district become trendy and it is not easy to find an appartements here.

But I still wouldn't consider them to be "upper-middle class". At least they didn't seem like it while I was there. I would say lower-middle class is more like it.

I said middle class and upper middle class, of course there is lower middle class since this district is very socialy diverse (and chinese have bought appartement at little price in the 70's), there is also some public housing buildings but these are not the high towers.

Paris is socially diverse city it is not easy to see the difference between the middle and upper middle class, I could say that the only difference is the income.

I guess that the most affluent residents live in towers closer to the Place d'Italie.
