A drunken forum meet ought to produce some interesting (if not peculiar) shots of cracks in the sidewalk, the many different types of shoes people wear, vomit, and the occasional fecal matter left behind by either a) animals or b) bums.

Oh yeah, I take good pictures when I'm drunk (as long as I'm not falling-down drunk). My downtown Austin thread from a couple years ago was perhaps the most highly-praised set of photos ever, and I'd had a Guinness and a couple Shiner Bocks before that.

I might be interesting but I'm not sure I'd be available because we have family and friends in town almost every weekend in Aug.

I think I'm going to purchase my train ticket later tonight. Are we all pretty much in agreement for the 11th?

Alright, ticket purchased. Should we all just plan on meeting at the San Diego train station around 10:30-ish on the 11th then?

What was the AAA reduced fare?

I'm not an AAA member anymore, but I wonder if I could get away with using my Dad's number. They seem to just ask for the number.

From the Santa Ana station, the original round-trip fare was $46. With AAA, it was reduced to $41.40.

Oh, that barely helps. It's $42 from Irvine without a discount, anyway.

I haven't decided yet if I'm going to do it. It doesn't actually save money over the cost of gas, even at current prices, but it would certainly be less stressful than getting into traffic on the 5. One time I drove to San Diego and got from my place to downtown in less than 90 minutes. That was great. But another time (last 4th of July weekend) it took nearly twice as long.

Less stress was the deciding factor for me. That, and I got my second ticket of the summer last week and would rather someone else be responsible for getting me to San Diego, even if I could make it down there in an hour from my house, I'd rather not risk that.

Yeah, you'd be going pretty damn fast to get there in an hour...

Taking the train will be fun, I rather not drive to my destination anyday. Besides going to San Diego in a car on the weekend is a complete nightmare. You should be able to buy drinks as well in the snack bar. Anyway you all have fun, I would love to go, but my fun on Saturdays are limited because I have to be at work at 10pm for a 12 hour shift.

Hey Guys,

So are you all set for August 11? If I'm free then, I'd love to join you all. This should have been posted in the SD Compilations thread as someone else said in this post. I rarely ever venture into the California section myself.

We're pretty much set for August 11. I'll find the SD compilations thread and post a link there.

Yeah, there's certainly no need to post this in the San Diego subforum. It only has 12 threads!

By the way, my friends would like to meet up with us at some point, though it depends on where we're going. I might be crashing at their place that night, though of course I'll need to decide whether or not I'm doing that before I buy my train tickets.

Two weeks and counting, peoples

At this point, it sounds like a couple of Angelenos are invading San Diego. Pass the word on, people!
