Curbed NY:

Resurrected 50 West Street Unveils New Renders, Sales Launch
Tuesday, December 10, 2013, by Hana R. Alberts

Quote:
After 30 years of waiting, Time Equities is getting ready to debut its Helmut Jahn-designed tower at 50 West Street. Just one of the oodles of new new residential buildings springing up in the Financial District, 50 West secured $400 million in financing earlier this year for the 63-story condo building with retail, a restaurant, one floor of office space, and the usual luxury amenities. A public plaza with a pedestrian walkway will connect West and Washington streets. So what's next? A teaser site, which just launched today, that includes some new panoramic renderings (screencapped above and below). Thomas Juul Hansen has also been tapped for the interiors. Also, sales will launch in the spring of 2014, with construction projected to be complete in 2016.

Gorgeous building.

That stretch will finally be a showstopper if that hideous brown abomination of a building next door to this is ever razed.

Also, something needs to be done about that bad Battery Garage. Surely they can make way for underground parking there? There shouldn't be above ground parking in NYC. Doubt it will ever happen though.

I know it's been on hold for a while, but I didn't realize it had been quite that long!

90 Washington is actually getting a re-clad, though I agree that it should be razed.

This one has been flying under the radar; it's been u/c for months, a pretty nice looking design, and nearly 800 ft., but we haven't been following here at SSP.

How long ago? I thought the developers got a loan recently?

Although the blurb did say they "secured a loan earlier this year (2013)". But I'm not sure when exactly.

That building next door is one of the ugliest and most offensive buildings in Manhattan. It needs to be razed.

I can't tell if there's progress but I hope so because this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing buildings in NYC.

Also, nice height for the area.

Any idea what the new clad will be? They're stripping away the front side now.

^What a gem. That curved glass . You have to admire the crown as well. It looks to be angled directly at Freedom Tower's pinnacle.

If I didn't know better, I'd think this was part of the WTC complex.
