Wow, those initial pictures got me thinking how much a "mountain city" Los Angeles really is. The city that starts at sea level climbs to 5,080 feet at Sister Elsie Peak. In addition, it's surrounded by 4 mountain ranges with the San Gariel's rising to 10,064 ft.

If LA was that bright and clear on an average day, it would be heaven on Earth.

Oh, well. If geography is urban destiny, LA's gifts are stupendous.

Yeah, I was marvelling at the clarity, too. I've looked out from those balconies at the Getty when Westwood was barely visible and the Pacific even less so. But here they are both crystal clear.

Great pics.

Westsidelife, you really should credit the people who actually took and initially posted these photos, by name. It's only fair.

I'm not going to go back and look for all of those. I'll just cite the source as to not pass it off as my own.

After viewing the pictures of The Getty, I realize I haven't been in a while. I guess its about time I pay a visit real soon.

Great pics.
I dunno, I've been able to see good clarity quite a lot this past winter. I've been able to easily see the San Gabriel mountains from Torrance.

Westsidelife never said he took the pics. Besides who cares. I love the pics and I love LA. When I lived in LA I remember many clear days like these. What an awesome place and what a great thread. Thanks Westsidelife.
