Thanks for the great photos! According to the latest planning doc, there will be five stories of underground parking. As for excavation:

Quote:
The building, a tower-on-podium design, would have a reinforced concrete frame constructed on a mat foundation and would require excavation to a depth of approximately 65 feet, and would occupy the entire 15,025 square-foot lot.

The crane is going up today. RH2 will be partially blocked by the youngest tower on the block from my place.

Here's the base of the crane on the right, otherwise still mostly just an insanely deep hole:

However, you can also see rebar and the first bit of concrete around the crane's base, so this is indeed officially under construction.

Pics from today - nothing new here from Peanut Gallery's photo. Still some dirt in SW corner to be removed, but excited to see this progressing.

Here's a photo of the construction site in context, as viewed from One Rincon: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=5193b16fb8

Also, here are a few more details about the project:

Quote:
Build Group’s Project Director Andy Schreck said the project broke ground April 3 and crews are now working on the shoring of the excavation, which will go down five levels. He said there would be about 200 workers per day on the project at peak construction. The building will be structural concrete with a unitized glass and aluminum curtain wall. The project is scheduled to be completed by December 2015.

It looks like excavation is all but complete, and rebar for the spot where the core will presumably rise is in place:

(Sorry about the fence, couldn't get a clean shot looking straight down.)

Over in the far right corner is the last of the dirt they were lifting out with the tower crane:

45 Lansing is really coming together quickly now and I imagine it won't be long before they come out of this hole:

Details on the mat pour from J.K. Dineen:

Quote:
On Saturday night San Francisco-based contractor Build Group completed an 21-hour mat pour for the tower, which is being designed by HKS. The pour started at 6 p.m. on Saturday night and didn’t wrap up until 2:30 p.m. the next day. Mat sections ranged from five to seven feet thick to 14-feet thick in the shear walls around the core of the building.
Photos of the pour were posted by Build Group on Facebook:

Wow, it feels like they are flying on this one. The tops of the rebar are already at ground level. I guess having a smallish footprint means it goes vertical more quickly.

Update - weekend of 11/30

They came up a floor - looks like another slab pour will be this week sometime, and in a couple weeks they'll be out of the hole! No more need to "look down" into the hole.

Returning to the forum after an extended absence, I was so happy and overjoyed to see this finally going through, its always been one of my favorites. I'm sorry I missed out on checking out that gigantic hole in the ground, its certainly the deepest I've seen in some time. Next time I'm around I'll see if I can get a few pictures
