Mooney's Bay station platform extension. This was an original 2001 station, then known as Confederation Heights. Name changed in 2017 to prevent any sort of confusion with the Confederation Line. Fare gates, fare vending machines and glass enclosures for the aforementioned added that same year to test out the the new fare equipment before the much busier Confederation Line opened (which was supposed to be in summer 2018, but ended up opening in September 2019).

EDIT:

Drive-by the eastern alignment from Blair to Trim and back.

RailFans posted a shorter version of the video I posted earlier on here. Video is now timelapse, slowing down at portions where significant construction is going on and at future stations. 5 minutes vs the first video's 15 minutes.

O-Train Fans posted Snapshots of all stations of the eastern extension.

https://otrain.railfans.ca/snapshot-...bruary-21-2021

Here are the two with the most significant progress.

Montreal. The station will be elevated in the median, at the same level as the two highway bridges. Entrances will be under the overpass, on each side of the road.

Place d'Orléans. Widening the trench, presumably to shift the highway in order to provide more space for the station in the median. A fare controlled entrance will be from the red-piping bridge. A second fare paid bridge will be built to connect to the bus loop. Another fare controlled entrance will be built on the Champlain street overpass.

Plenty more pictures of these and all other sites of future stations in the east end if you follow the link I provided at the top of the post.

Airport station. The first Stage 2 station with its steel structure.

The airport authority had promised over $20 million to build the link between the airport terminal and the station however, due to Covid, they are no longer in a position to do so. They are hoping to get a part of the $400 million promised by the Feds to help struggling airports with new infrastructure projects. Montreal P.E.T. was promised funding for the REM station even before that $400 million fund was announced, if I remember correctly.

Dependent on the airport link, the station is suppose to open in late 2022.

Drone footage of Stage 2 progress, west south and east. Some significant progress on grade separation along all three extensions.

Some shots from the Byron Tramway Park tunnel construction. The tunnel will include two open trench infill stations along a decades long service gap along the old Transitway.

Work on the Byron Linear Park tunnel continues! After a year of relocating utilities and then carefully excavating, the #Stage2LRT crews have dug almost 10 metres down – the full depth of the future New Orchard station

Algonquin station (originally Baseline station) tunnel extension. Around 2010, the City demolished the original Baseline station to allow Algonquin College to build their new trades building. A tunnel was built for a future rail station next door, with the temporary Baseline station on top.

The station will be the western terminus of Line 1 when it opens in 2025. The City hopes to extend further south to Barrhaven, pending upper level Government funding.

Looking good in Edmonton. The surface line will provide some advantages, like quick way to get on and off the train to travel a few blocks. There's a certain distance where going down multiple escalators just isn't worth it. I am looking forward to the Gatineau Tram (if/when it happens) to supplement the Confederation Line subway.

News on Stage 2 Confederation Line east extension. The Blair fly-over structure, which is about 800 meters east of Blair, where the trains will go from the north of the highway to the median, should be completed by Summer 2021, with the first Stage 2 Confed tracks being laid soon after.

We also have a new rendering of Montreal Station, one station east (about 3 km further) of Blair. The rendering shows the addition of angled roof sections, which is more in line with Stage 1 station design language. Not as elaborate of course. Some strange parts however, is the missing middle section of the glass canopy (which is strange as these also include lighting and signage) and chain link fences separating the rail line and highway.

The rendering is not of very high quality, so I choose to only take the angled roof as a true change to the original design.

The original rendering from Feb 2019, when the winning bids' designs were unveiled.

Another shot of the Byron tunnel construction. The crane is an unrelated u/c apartment tower.

It just occurred to me that almost all LRT across Canada will look the same moving forward, lol.

One would expect the colours to match the owners/operators. It is just coincidence that Ion and E LRT are the same colours.
