Webcam view. Looks like the West facade is almost complete.

So. Video board? Mural? What are we gonna see with that giant blank side that I've despised from day one?

What is the east side of the parking garage portion supposed to be clad in? Right now it is still exposed parking structure.

Street level looking up at certain sides is like a big ol' muffin top with a belt pulled too tight.

I think that's what makes me dislike this one the most.

tbh this should have been built outside of downtown.....maybe in South Shore. I am not a fan. I'm sorry, Genral!!

As you all know, I started out REALLY hating this. I was over the top in HATE with it and besides tech house's support, I was beat up for my never ending posts of disdain of it. I don't know if I grew up or had a change of heart or simply a change of taste, but it grew on me to the point where I think its a very interesting looking building. What's more, I really like the quality of it. Fitting those windows into the angles is not cheap and looks amazing. Overall, I am not a huge fan of it in its entirety, but I do like the out of the box features. I do wish the office was taller and the parking was shorter, but it is a gem on top of a contrasting podium. No one else has anything like it so it will forever be unique to Austin. And I certainly like it more than 3rd and Shoal whose parking garage as we know is a disappointing eyesore.

There's certainly room for buildings "controversial" designs, and I'm all for outside the box thinking... I just struggle to understand when the feedback on something is overwhelmingly negative how those things keep moving forward without a second thought to re-working certain things. Or better yet, have some focus groups or unofficial public votes on 2 or 3 choices.

Another great example for you car guys/gals out there is the new BMW 4 series. The hideously over-sized vertical grills on the new generation of that car is near universally panned. Yet they continued forward.

Time will tell if both of those were the right decision or not.
Neither work for me, but the designers did not ask for my opinion. Hah

The BMW 4 has a gawd awful grill, I think Lexus started that trend. Perhaps its more function over beauty, keeping the engine cooler, but a over engineered radiator could do that. I don't know, but if sales are good... There's certainly a vast difference in taste regarding this and 405. I too wish design teams would consult the public during the design phases, but I'm pretty sure Picasso didn't solicit public opinion.
I know his paintings are almost priceless now, but if I didn't know that, I wouldn't even hang any of his paintings above my toilet.

I’m guessing the blue on the blank wall gets peeled off to reveal orange?

Pretty sure you're correct. The original renders that bothered to show the North facade hd it in orange.

Really? An orange peel reveal deal, for real?! I was hoping for teal. Now I don't know how I feel. I fear it might make me squeal, and lose my meal. This whole thing has been one long ordeal. (I didn't really mean that last part).

Oh my goodness. Like someone else said in another post, this belongs in domain or hell, that future zen garden thing along Ed Bluestein Blvd (183) lol. It's hideous!
