Hamilton real estate investment firm Forge & Foster has a new restoration project on its hands, a former cigar factory in Strathcona built in 1913. The building at 29 Harriet St. was originally the home of the Harper-Presnail Cigar Company, a company founded by William Harper and William and Thomas Presnail. The employees of Tuckett Tobacco, located at Queen Street and York Boulevard, left to start their own company and commissioned architect Lindsey Wardell to design the building, according to a Forge & Foster release.

The renovations underway include “heritage enhancements” to the interior, including restored hardwood flooring, and an exterior wall mural on a vinyl banner affixed by a frame. The company is hoping to populate the building with creative and film industry businesses, noting the proximity to the west harbour film studio.
