The naming is consistent with how sprawl projects are so often named after what is destroyed by the development.

Cynical ironies aside, hard to complain about this project or any of Core Urban's other ones lately. The alley will be missed by some but considering the plan, this loss is worth it. We can still catch it in the movies.

Would be cool if they could preserve some of the alley's brick walls on the inside

I think they're planning to. The elevator will only take up part of it. The rest will probably be a part of the lobby or something.

It is completed but it seems like they had trouble attracting tenants, most likely because that side of John Street is still kinda scummy. I haven't seen moulin rouge open in at least a year now and the upper floors including the old Pagoda space seem to be completely empty. One the Connaught condos have been completed for a bit, that side of John should pick up. Co/Motion on King will also be open around the corner, along with Mills Hardware.

It's owned by one of the familia di suburban homebuilding. Can't remember which one. I'm sure they've been waiting for an offer they can't refuse these past 30+ years...

That would be sweet. Then hang stills of scenes from the many films shot in the alley over the years. There must be dozens if not more.

Really nice. I hope they keep the Tip Top sign on the side of the building like it is in the rendering, even if it is mostly blocked.

Fixing up old buildings is always great, but fixing up old buildings in prime locations is amazing.

Ah okay. That's great.

Can't wait to see what that brick looks like after the removal of decades of soot and grime.
