I took these a few hours ago. The tower is definitely getting close to completion:

The architects didn't force their imagination on this one.

Victoria sur le Parc and National Bank (both 200 m.)

Condo towers can be nice, but man, a bank tower is something else !

One of the more....interesting angles of what's turning out to be a bit of a bland looking set of towers:

Taken from the western entrance of the Square One mall...this view of the buildings will look better when they top out:

I've always disliked this tower ever since it was proposed.

That's a good thing. It's a decent tower.

^ It's unusual for me to have particularly strong reactions to new projects, but, man, I really don't like M City M1 and M2. Their massing and architectural design just don't work for me at all.

Agreed. They look like a Dollarama knockoff of the Absolute towers.

I agree. While part of me admires the changing floorplates, particularly in how well it can look in certain lighting conditions, the massing and general way they positioned the podium and towers is unfortunate. It's very much a Big-box development that looks flashy, without looking very functional or attractive for pedestrians or for retail (AFAIK...I've only passed by the site, I obviously can't get close to it now that they've blocked off the sidewalks adjacent to these buildings)

I'm still confused by their decisions on this project.

I work right by these.. they look more impressive from certain angles at street level than in photos imo.. I do like that they are a break from the same monotonous rectangular glass tower that dots most of the GTA.. could have used a little more finesse though.. but i give it a passing grade.

Yeah... I don't want to be too hard on them because at least they tried to make it interesting. But I just don't think the end result is all that great. It's just lacking a certain gracefulness.

I think had they done something different with the podium they might look really cool. The base ruins the whole project for me though. The design is simple and didn't take a master architect to design, and that's shown at it's base. A good architect would have created a transition that compliments the towers, instead it looks like they sit on a stack of left over parts from construction.

Why do I have this song in the head «Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Please don't build it just because you can»
